Everybody is talking about the calamity of Kedarnath now a days. As far as people are concerned many stories are coming as reasons for the mishap. Somebody says it is due to anger of deity Dhari Devi which was shifted from its place near Srinagar ( Garhwal) on the day before this incident. Another story says opening of the Kapaats of Kedarnath Ji was done in very inauspicious muhurt which was the cause of all this mishappening.There is also a theory which is in the airs that it the result of the inauspicious deeds of the people residing in this holy place as well as the visitors.
The third one is most convincing and reasonable reson. May be those inauspicious deeds in someone's view are religious or pertaining to traditions. e.g. in old times the Yatra of was performed by the people of such age group at which the person fulfills all his worldly mundane or materialistic duties. The reason behind it may be that, at that time no such facilities were available as in today's time or people were more concern about their and others lives and facilitation. Now a days we have got ultramodern techniques of travelling and other living aids. By means of which we assume that we can conquer the whole world. This feeling is shown by almost people in each and every nook and corner of the world. Nobody has respect for others.
Need of people is converted into Greed. What people have done to Himalayan region and other parts clearly shows this mentality. As far as Kedarghati is concerned it also not an exception of this. People come for religious yatra and simultaneously they think to enjoy it as an picnic or some fun voyage. The people who are residing at these places see opportunity in this. New hotels,motels and lodges are constructed in such places which were solitude before some years. We know that man has a tendency that which thing is achieved very easily we dont respect it. So we do not stay in the places which are traditional or ritual stoppages. We try to take such places for our stay which are adventurous, hillarious and have a unique view and structure. These type of stoppages are made nearby the river beds. Sometimes on natural banks and sometimes on the banks formed by protection wall made by government authorities. This area is meant for the overflow of rivers in rainy days or at the times of sliding of glaciers. People have made it to contract in a small strip by encroaching in it, which tends the river water not to expand in a larger area and hence resulting in increase in its velocity. The high velocity river water will tend to demolish everything coming in its path with its high kinetic energy. In other word we can say that the natural powers use to find their own path. If we are not going to respect these powers they have enough powers to have a take back action by which they can snatch away from us all their blessings on us.
Government should take stern actions to remove encroachment from nearby the riverbeds. As after the Kedarghati devastation Government of UP has taken some action in this direction. Also a policy for crowd management should be made to minimize effects of such devastations (may God forbade) in future. Beside of these efforts we must also inculcate feeling of respect towards natural powers and should stop ourselves by unnecessary exploitation of Mother Nature.
